In the days leading up to the parade, the green line is painted along the route, including White Plains Road, to help show and build community support for the day’s celebration of Irish culture.
“Painting the 'Green Line' along the parade route has become a tradition for the Eastchester St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee members, grand marshals and their honorees," Eastchester Supervisor Anthony S. Colavita remarked in a statement. "I am looking forward to a spirit filled parade Sunday the 16th”.
Eastchester Irish American Social Club president John Collins praised Ragetté for its commitment to the parade.
“We are delighted to have Ragetté Real Estate step up as the first ever ‘Green Line Sponsor,’” Collins added in the statement. “It is especially important for the 10th of a generations-old family business, like Ragetté Real Estate, and their support for recognizing Irish heritage. We are grateful for their participation.”
In addition, Collins announced that local residents Tom Huvane and Jim Hendry will be grand marshals and the Rev. Eric Raaser, pastor of the Church of the Assumption and Immaculate Conception in Tuckahoe is parade honoree. An official presentation of parade sashes to the grand marshals and their parade aides, and the parade honoree was held on Saturday, Feb. 8, at J.C. Fogarty's in Bronxville.
