Excitement Pours In For Tuckahoe's Broken Bow Brewery

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The taps will soon be open and the beer will be flowing when the Broken Bow Brewery opens on Marbledale Road in Tuckahoe this weekend.

The village is abuzz with excitement as the long awaited business finally opens. Broken Bow will feature three home brews - Broken Bow Lager a Stout and American Pale Ale.

The brewery will include a bar and tasting room that will be available for private events. Eastchester resident Chris Romano said he is excited to finally go in the brewery, which has been under discussion and construction for more than a year.

“It feels like we’ve all been waiting for this day for an awfully long time, doesn’t it,” he questioned. “It’ll be exciting for the owners [Michael LaMothe and his family] to finally open their doors and let in the public, and believe me, we’re excited.”

LaMothe is a former home brewer who decided to take his hobby and turn it into a profession two years ago. He has trained under industry veterans and longtime brew masters to perfect his product. Aside from the three mainstays, there will be a variety of different flavors and tastes rotated in the brewery throughout the year.

“Maybe this will be what puts Tuckahoe on the map. We can become renowned for our beer,” Bronxville resident Elizabeth Smith said. “I think everyone will just be happy that it’s one less construction project going on in the village.”

Several of the Broken Bow Brewery flavors have been sampled already in the village, at Growlers Beer Bistro and Ristorante Chianti. There will be a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, featuring beer from Broken Bow and food from those two institutions.

Resident Harvey April added that he believes the project – which was designed by Barbuti Architects, the firm also developing an ice rink down the road – is a sign that Tuckahoe is heading in the right direction with its various construction projects.

“You always hear politicians that claim they’re going to do this, or fix that,” he said. “It’s refreshing to live in an area where our local officials actually follow through with the promises they make to [residents].”

The brewery will be opened each day on Tuesday through Saturday. On weekdays, it will open at 3 p.m. and close at 8 p.m., while on the weekends it will open up two hours earlier. On Fridays and Saturdays, there will be tours of the brewery at 2 and 4 p.m.
