Mathnasium, a math-only learning center for children of all ages, is coming to the Scarsdale-Eastchester town line. It will open in April at 747 White Plains Road. It will help students up to Grade 12 refine and boost their math skills.
The classes can help in everyday life, not just math class, said Shane Bland, center director with Mathnasium of Scarsdale.
“Having a strong educational foundation is paramount to success in all areas of life,” he said. “Our aim is to provide that foundation for each and every one of our ‘mathletes.’ [We] will provide both instruction and practice, all in a welcoming, comfortable environment.”
In addition to tutoring, homework help and test preparation will also be available. Mathnasium’s approach is to first determine a student’s aptitude and then tailor a personalized learning program specific to that student.
The program's goal is to increase a student’s math skills, understanding of mathematical concepts and overall school performance while building confidence and a positive attitude toward the subject, Bland said.
“I am very excited to see each and every one of our students reach for and attain their personal best and am here to cheer them on each step of the way,” he said. “Our goal is to eliminate the confusion and intimidation that often accompanies the subject of math and replace it with understanding and passion.”
