Google Pulls Out Of Pentagon-Backed Robot-Building Contest

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Technology giant Google recently backed out of a Pentagon-sponsored robot building contest that carries a $2 million prize purse, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The contest featuring two-legged robots is an effort to help spur development and to help the Pentagon strengthen relationships with companies outside of its traditional base, The Wall Street Journal reported. 

Google pulled out because the robotics team at the company reportedly doesn't have interest in government contracts or government funding, The Wall Street Journal said.
