EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Although it may have come from meager roots, Pure Barre, an organization of fitness studios around the country, is poised to break ground in Westchester, as it prepares to open a location on Cedar Street in Bronxville.
Pure Barre - which was founded by fitness guru Carrie Rezabek Dorr in the basement of an office building in Michigan more than a decade ago - has become a national fixture, combining motivating music and effective 55-minute classes that focus on techniques for women.
In Bronxville, Pure Barre is poised to open its doors to fitness fanatics on June 13. The studio has offered a variety of pre-opening specials, including five weeks of unlimited classes, which can be purchased online.
Presently, the closest Pure Barre studios are located on Long Island and in Greenwich. Pure Barre Bronxville will be located at 2 Cedar Street, where it will join Blow and Beyond, Savanna at Home and the Green Wood Mart in the development.
According to Dorr, Pure Barre takes basic positions and movements, but shows participants how to more effectively work them to fit their body.
“The beauty of Pure Barre is that you can get a total body workout in just 55 minutes at a time that works best for your schedule,” she said in a release. “Each class is designed to be effective for people at all levels of experience and fitness.”
Opening weekend at Pure Barre Bronxville will include free preview classes and an open house tour of the studio. Following the soft opening, the studio has plans to throw a grand opening party to celebrate its place in the community.
Eastchester women are already getting excited about the possibility of Pure Barre Bronxville. Stephanie Gray, 28, who said she is getting in shape for an upcoming wedding, plans to frequent the studio once it opens.
“I’m willing to try anything and everything, and if they have a way to speed things along, I’ll check it out,” she said. “I’ve been dieting and working out on my own for several months. Maybe I’ll take a couple classes.”
