Jocelyn Koenig, a Greenacres resident who moved to Scarsdale last year, has been hard at work for months in advance of Here&Now’s Sept. 2 opening, where she and her staff will offer more than 30 weekly fitness classes for people of all ages and experience levels.

A certified yoga instructor that specializes in vinyasa flow, Koenig, who has been participating in yoga for more than 15 years, said that she plans to provide a variety of classes to any and all members of the community looking to get in better shape.

“We offer barre fitness, a total body workout that strengthens and tones muscles while reducing body fat. We have a wide selection of yoga classes, including vinyasa flow, power, basics, stretch and prenatal. We also have a full kids program for all ages, including parent and baby classes and a class for children with special needs,” she said. “We offer more than 30 classes a week in a studio setting, so there is truly something for everyone.”

Although she’s been a yogi for more than a decade – with previous stops teaching at Be True Yoga in Scarsdale and Yoga Station in Hartsdale – this is Koenig’s first foray into launching her own studio. Having previously served as a prosecutor in the Bronx District Attorney’s office, the mother of three believes she brings a unique skill set to her new business.

Here&Now will officially open on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 138 Garth Road in Scarsdale. Koenig said that she hopes to “provide a space for people to come together and practice, where everyone feels at home.”

“(Working as an attorney) surprisingly taught me skills that have been invaluable in opening Here&Now,” she said. “I’ve never opened a new business before, so I had to learn a lot in a short amount of time. This process has been so rewarding because of the response of the community, there has been so much enthusiasm and excitement leading up to the opening.”

“Our manta is: ‘Strong Body. Present Mind.’ Students are going to move, sweat, focus, stretch, flex and breathe into their own personal here and now.”
