Two of the locations are in Yorktown, one at the Triangle Shopping Center and the other at Jefferson Valley Mall.

The Triangle Shopping Center store is expected to close Feb. 28. Both stores had signs announcing their closure and merchandise was being heavily discounted.

Employees were not allowed to discuss the impending closure but customers at the store in the Triangle Shopping Center said they were sad to see it go.

"It's tough," said Brian Wong, a Yorktown resident. "I expected this. They never evolved. It's been the same store for God knows how long."

Wong said he would go to Radio Shack when he needed electronic parts.

"I'll probably shop online now," Wong said.

Bob Flavin, a Yorktown resident, said he was disappointed to hear about Radio Shack's closure.

"I've been a long-time shopper," said Flavin, an electrical engineer. "This wasn't unexpected. I didn't think they were going to last."

Flavin, who said he would shop online, was hoping to find some products at a discount before the store closed for good.

The other locations to close are:

White Plains: White Plains Galleria (Feb. 28) Hartsdale: Westchester Square (Feb. 28) Mount Vernon: Westchester Plaza (March 31) Yonkers: Cross County Shopping Center (March 31)
