Eastchester 5K To Benefit Ecap, Schools Music Booster Club

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. - After more than 900 runners raised more than $15,000 for local organizations last year, town officials are looking to improve on those numbers later this month at the third annual Eastchester 5K.

Registration has opened for the now annual fun run, which has proven to be an increasingly popular fundraising event since its inception in 2014.

This year, all proceeds will be benefitting the Eastchester Community Action Partnership and the recently founded Eastchester Music Boosters Club, an all-volunteer group that strives to “serve the needs of student musicians and music faculty and to support music education excellence in the school district.”

On their end, the Music Boosters have promised to ensure their presence is felt at the race. There will be student performances and they will host a booth where participants can learn about the organization and its mission statement.

“We are grateful to the Eastchester 5K Committee for voting to put a portion of the funds raised toward the Eastchester School District’s music program,” Eastchester Music Boosters President Diane Lama said.

The race will kick off at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Eastchester Town Hall, rain or shine. Early registration will continue until Friday, Sept. 9, with those attending guaranteed a t-shirt. Registration will close at 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.
