Eastchester Columbus Day Parade Called Off, Carnival To Run Through Weekend

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – One of Eastchester’s most popular annual events has been cancelled this year, with town officials announcing that there will be no Columbus Day Parade on Monday as roadwork continues on White Plains Road.

Each year, hundreds line Route 22 to watch the parade during the extended weekend, with the procession traditionally travelling from the Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, along White Plains Road to the Lake Isle Country Club, where a celebration ensues.

This year, due to the extensive roadwork that has been taking place in Eastchester, organizers have been forced to cancel the parade, and will instead host a weekend-long carnival event that will be held at Lake Isle.

The carnival, which will kickoff at 6 p.m. on Friday evening, will include face painting, cooking competitions, professional photographers and entertainers dressed as cartoon characters that will be available for photos throughout the weekend. The carnival will open daily at 1 p.m. each day, closing at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and at 6 p.m. Monday.

Pay-one-price wristbands for Saturday and Sunday will be available during the weekend. There will be fireworks presented by Grucci beginning at 9 p.m. on Sunday night.
