Eastchester Fitness Studio Presents 'Shred Your Ex' Valentine's Day Event

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- While many places all over town will set up with heart balloons, “two-for-one” specials and pre-fixed meals for couples, the iLoveKickboxing.com fitness studio in Eastchester will have a different kind of event this Valentine’s Day.

Billed as “Anti-Valentine’s Day” for all of the studio’s single women and men, the fun workout will not only help members “shred” some pounds and fat Saturday, but they'll also get to “shred” their exes.

"'Shred your Ex’ will allow you to punch all of your exes without being called ‘crazy’ or getting a new Facebook profile photo taken at your local police precinct,” said Chuck and Kara Giangreco, owners of the Eastchester-based franchise.

In iLoveKickboxing fitness classes in Eastchester, members will have the opportunity to tape photos of “old flames” to the kickboxing heavy bags. They'll punch, kick and land spinning back fists to the photos.

“We wanted to take the opposite approach and do something for those who don’t have a significant other,” the Giangrecos said.

After discussing various ideas with other iLoveKickboxing.com studio managers across the region and with executives at the franchise, it was decided doing something different on Valentine’s Day was the way to go.

“We tell our members all the time to imagine the face of the person that made them mad that day as they throw their combos at the heavy bags," said the Giangrecos. "This gets them really fired up and burning even more calories - and it adds a lot of fun to class too."

“Shred Your Ex” is not a singles-only event. Members also are invited to print photos of their bosses, friends and anyone with whom they’re not too happy.
