The theme of this year’s event is “follow the green line for number nine,” in honor of the ninth anniversary of the parade.
Representatives from the Eastchester Irish American Social Club gave a presentation to the Bronxville Board of Trustees last month, and will be at the Eastchester Town Board meeting on Tuesday night.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, marching up Main Street to the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester. It will feature nearly a dozen marching bands and seven pipe bands. Vintage cars, active members of the military, police officers, schools and various other community organizations will also be part of the procession.
The Grand Marshal of this year’s parade will be Dave Flannery. Jean McCluskey and Breda Travers will also be honored during the festivities.
Stephen Huvane, the Eastchester Irish American Social Club publicity co-chair, said that Flannery, an Ireland native, moved to America more than two decades ago. He currently serves as an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 353.
“Flannery was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States in 1985 and has been a member of our club since 2001,” he said. “He’s a great member of the community, and as a businessman has continually given back. Along with his wife, David is one of the many reasons our parade is so successful.”
