Bill Handwerker, the grandson of the “Original Nathan” will discuss his book, “Nathan’s Famous: The First 100 Years of America’s Favorite Frankfurter Company” at the Library on Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m.

As a teenager, Handwerker worked at the Coney Island and Oceanside restaurants and after college joined the family business.

In “Nathan’s Famous,” Handwerker celebrates his grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit and his legacy in creating an American institution. He offers insight into the family behind the business and their journey from Poland to Coney Island to restaurant locations around the world.

“Bill Handwerker’s book reminds us of the myriad of inspiring immigrant stories that have played out in America time and again,” said Library Director Beth Bermel. “Nathan’s Famous is a household name thanks to the hard work of Nathan Handwerker and his family.”

The event is free and open to the public; registration is encouraged at the library website, scarsdalelibrary.org, or by calling the Reference Desk at 914-722- 1302.
