Extend the Life of your Clamshells

What do you do with those little plastic baskets your strawberries come in? Or your empty egg cartons? How about your blueberry clamshells?

If you're trying to do your bit to save the planet, here's a great idea. Save up your containers and take them to the farmers at your local farmers' market. Small farmers are usually happy to take donations of gently used packaging so that they can get their fresh produce to market undamaged.

Many farmers display their fruits and berries, and later their tomatoes, beets and potatoes, in small plastic or cardboard containers. After you've paid, they'll put your purchase into a shopping bag and recycle the containers for other customers. Small farmers operate on a tight budget and we can help them keep their costs down by keeping them supplied with containers. We'll also cut down on the amount of packaging that ends up in landfills.
