Pound Ridge Fifth Graders Move On Up

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. - Fifth graders from the Pound Ridge Elementary School are moving on up – and out.

On Thursday the school held ceremonies and receptions to commemorate the end of the school year and the students’ “graduation” to sixth grade at Fox Lane Middle School.

“It’s called Fifth Grade Moving-Up Day,” said Susan Reiner, a clerk monitor for the school. “On Thursday, the event was for parents and family only. After the ceremony, the fourth grade parents host a reception.”

Friday the school will hold its All-School Moving Up Day. The event marks each student moving from one grade to the next.

“This one is for staff and teachers and parents,” Reiner said. “It’s kind of a passing the flag thing. It’s a celebration of everyone moving on.”

As part of the ceremonies, the fifth graders put on some performances.

“They do some dances as part of the event,” Reiner said.

On Friday TheDailyPoundRidge.com will feature photos from the All-School Moving Up Day and more coverage of the ceremony.
