NORWALK, Conn. A Norwalk teenager was struck by a car at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Connecticut Avenue. The victim complained of shoulder pain and was bleeding a little from the head, according to Mefi Banegas, 17, a witness.
The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital with unspecified injuries. Banegas said the 17-year-old boy is a student at Norwalk High School.
Banegas said he was riding in the back of his foster parent's car when the boy, who he knows from school, ran out in front of them. His parent had been at the light at Taylor and Connecticut avenues and accelerated normally when the light turned green. Banegas said the boy must have misjudged the situation because he ran out in front of the car. "He was running really fast, and we ended up hitting him," he said. "He didn't look. His head hit the windshield and his shoulder hit the hood."
The victim got right back up and was conscious when he went to the hospital, Banegas said. The victim complained of "a little headache," he said.
Police held up traffic as they measured distances in the roadway.
