Michael F. Burton Jr., of the Bronx, was arrested around 2:20 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, for criminal possession of stolen property, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

The incident began around 2:20 p.m., when troopers spotted Burton driving a 2019 BMW 530I at a high rate of speed on I-684 in the town of Lewisboro, said Hicks.

Burton failed to comply with attempts to stop the vehicle and led troopers on a pursuit to Route 22, North Street, and Route 138.

In an attempt to evade troopers, Burton allegedly drove off the road at Best Plumbing Tile and Stone, and John F. Kennedy Catholic High School properties, causing damage to both, Hicks said.

Burton then returned to Route 138 and failed to negotiate a turn at an unsafe speed, struck a guide rail, and then struck an uninvolved vehicle head-on, Hicks added.

Burton was taken into custody without further incident, and the vehicle was discovered to be stolen. Both Burton and a rear seat passenger were transported to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation, state police said.

After being released from Westchester Medical Center, Burton was arraigned before the town of Bedford Court where he was released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Oct. 7.

This investigation is still on-going, and updates will be provided when available.
