NY Times Bestselling Author To Speak In Eastchester

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – New York Times bestselling author John Meacham will be the speaker at the annual Brendan Gill Lecture at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville this week.

Meacham won the Pulitzer Prize for “American Lion,” his 2008 biography of Andrew Jackson. He most recently published “Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power,” which reached No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller’s list.

The author is executive editor and vice president of Random House and a contributing editor to Time magazine. Meacham is a former editor of Newsweek and has written for The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Meacham is a fellow of the Society of American historians, and he serves on the boards of the New York Historical Society, the Churchill Centre and the McCallie School. The author is a former trustee and regent of the University of the South and has served on the vestries of St. Thomas Church and Trinity Church.

The yearly lecture is sponsored by the Bronxville Conservancy, geared to increase awareness of the village’s history and to help residents appreciate its culture. The event honors Brandon Gill, who according to the conservancy has been called “the greatest public citizen of our time in the realm of architecture, planning and historic preservation.”
