This five-week course will take place on Thursdays, May 28 through June 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Sarah Lawrence College campus.
The course is designed for adults interested in sharpening their professional writing skills so they can increase the likelihood of landing a job, art commission or consulting contract.
Students will conduct job and consulting project searches in relation to their background and skills; analyze the position description in comparison to their current cover letters, bios and resumes; and rewrite their documents to enhance its content, form and alignment with desired results. Upon course conclusion, participants will create an improved cover letter template, concise biographical sketch and attention-grabbing resume.
Grossberg has a 25-year successful history of raising millions of dollars for the arts, education and research. She is currently president and chief of her own consulting company and helps numerous nonprofits with strategic planning, fundraising, grant writing and public relations.
Grossberg earned her masters in Creative Arts Interdisciplinary from San Francisco State University and her bachelor's degree magna cum laude in communication arts from SUNY New Paltz.
“We are excited about offering this new professional writing course to the community,” said Patricia Dunn, director of the Writing Institute. “The Writing Institute is committed to helping adults become the writer that he or she wants to be. This course is an extension of that mission and will enable students to improve the way in which they present themselves on paper.”
