Mayor To Honor White Plains High Senior For Hispanic Heritage Essay

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains High School senior Raina Kadavil took second place recently in Optimum Power to Learn's sixth annual Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest.

She will read her essay on Dolores Huerta, a co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association, at a ceremony in the White Plains Administration Building on Friday, Jan. 10. She will also be presented with a laptop computer by Mayor Thomas Roach.

The event gets under way at 3:30 p.m. It is open to all students in grades six through 12 and takes place in the office of the superintendent of schools in the White Plains Administration Building at 5 Homeside Lane.
