The Week in Mt. Pleasant and Pleasantville Schools

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Although it may be a short week for students due to schools being closed for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, there is still a lot going on for both students and parents in the Mount Pleasant Central School District and the Pleasantville Union Free School District.

On Monday, the Mount Pleasant Central School District will start the week off with multiple meetings. At 9 a.m., the board will hold a meeting at the district office to discuss concussions and purchasing new protective helmets for sports, such as football and lacrosse. The meeting will be open to the public.

Monday night, Superintendent Dr. Susan Guiney will hold a coffee and questions event that parents are encouraged to attend. The event, held in the Westlake library, will focus on the 2% tax cap and what effects it may cause in the future. It will begin at 7:30 p.m.Tuesday will be the annual Back to School Night for Westlake High School. The event for parents will begin at 7 p.m. and there will be a special orientation beforehand at 6:15 p.m. for parents of ninth grade students.The Pleasantville Union Free School District will be holding its monthly Board of Education meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Pleasantville High School Library. Be sure to check the district's website for a copy of the agenda.Both school districts will have Thursday and Friday off for Rosh Hashanah before colliding on the football field. Pleasantville High School will host the Westlake Wildcats at Parkway Field on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
