New Rochelle...Did You Know?

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - that the Queen City of the Sound is where the first American woman canonized by the Catholic Church, Elizabeth Ann Seton, spent the majority of her childhood?

Seton lived with her uncle William Bayley in a house built by Joshua Pell along Shore Road near the New Rochelle and Pelham border. Seton became familiar with her French-Huguenot ancestry during her time in the city.

This “Did You Know” came from the New Rochelle Walk of Fame near the Library Green.
