EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Runners from all throughout Eastchester enjoyed pristine weather this weekend as they competed in the Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race to raise money for charity.
The 39th annual Tuckahoe Road Race was the biggest yet, with hundreds signing up to compete for top honors in the one-mile and five-mile challenge races, with all proceeds going to benefit local organizations.
Dozens of community and Chamber volunteers were busy on Sunday, handing out donated beverages and energy bars to the runners to keep them going on a cloudless day.
Both races started and finished at the Tuckahoe Community Center. The one-mile race was a mostly-flat track, while the longer race featured several rolling hills between the second and fourth mile.
Prizes and awards were given to the top participants, and there was a raffle for spectators to enjoy while they waited for the runners to return. Proceeds from the Tuckahoe Road Race will be donated to the Tuckahoe Beautification Committee, Eastchester Community Action Program and the Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
