What To Do Around Eastchester This Week

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – A workshop regarding sports injuries, village and town board meetings and several library programs are among the events scheduled around Eastchester this week.

Monday, Jan. 14

Recognize Sports Injuries: 7 p.m. Westchester parents and coaches are encouraged to attend a special session about recognizing and treating common sports injuries, such as concussions and neck injuries. 177 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The Tuckahoe Board of Education will meet in the high school library. 65 Siwanoy Blvd., Eastchester.

Village Board Meeting: 8 p.m. The Tuckahoe Village Board will hold its first meeting of the new year at Village Hall. 65 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

Better Body Challenge: 9:15 a.m. Trainer Tracey Gerety will host a fitness challenge. 76 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Computer Skills: 2 p.m. A second, free computer class will teach the basics of the machine. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Paws and Tales: 4 p.m.-5 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library is offering beginning readers the chance to practice reading their favorite tales aloud to furry, friendly therapy dogs. All dogs are certified and registered through The Good Dog Foundation. Story-loving dogs will be available for 10-minute reading sessions. Town Board Meeting: 7 p.m. The Eastchester Town Board will hold its biweekly meeting. 40 Mill Road, Eastchester.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

Children’s Story Swap: 4 p.m. Children can trade their favorite stories at the Tuckahoe Public Library. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Library Board of Trustees: 6 p.m. The Eastchester Library Board of Trustees will meet to discuss cuts in the latest town budget. 40 Mill Road, Eastchester.

Thursday, Jan. 17

Adult Book Club: 2 p.m. Adults can discuss “The Lifeboat,” with a special visit by author Charlotte Rogan. Tuckahoe Public Library. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Diapers to Dating: 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Debra Haffner will explore how to talk to children from birth to adolescence about sexuality issues. 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.
