EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a school board meeting and kindergarten registration at Cottle Elementary School highlight the events planned in Eastchester this week.

Monday, Jan. 21

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Many public places around Eastchester and Tuckahoe are closed in celebration of the holiday.

Soccer Camp: 9:30 a.m. Super Soccer Stars will keep kids active with a soccer mini-camp featuring 2 1/2 hours of soccer game play. For children up to age 5. $70. 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale.

Tuesday, Jan. 22

Better Body Challenge: 9:15 a.m. Trainer Tracey Gerety will host a fitness challenge. 76 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Explore the library: 2 p.m. Learn how to search the New Enterprise online catalog from the Eastchester Public Library or at home. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Board of Education: 8 p.m. The Eastchester Board of Education will meet at the High School. 580 White Plains Road, Eastchester.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

Kindergarten registration: 9-11:30 a.m. There will be registration for the 2013-2014 school year at Cottle Elementary School. Wednesday will be for students with last names beginning in A-L. 2 Siwanoy Blvd., Eastchester.

Afternoon movie: 12:30 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will screen “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Thursday, Jan. 24

Kindergarten registration: 9-11:30 a.m. There will be registration for the 2013-2014 school year at Cottle Elementary School. Wednesday will be for students with last names beginning in M-Z. 2 Siwanoy Blvd., Eastchester.

Toddler stories: 10:30 a.m. A story time for children up to age 2 with a caregiver. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Teen craft: 4 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will have a craft night designed for teenagers. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Planning Board: 7 p.m. The Eastchester Planning Board will meet for its only meeting in January. 40 Mill Road, Eastchester.

PTA meeting: 7 p.m. The Waverly PTA will have a meting about guiding children’s positive behavior. 45 Hall Ave., Eastchester.
