What To Do Around Eastchester This Weekend

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – A concert at Concordia College, a children’s guitar show and the one-year anniversary of Park 143 Bistro highlight the events planned around Eastchester this weekend.

Friday, Jan. 18

Preschool Story Time: 11 a.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will host its regular story time for preschoolers, ages 2-5 years. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Film series: 1 p.m. The Eastchester Public Library will continue its winter film series with a screening of “To Rome With Love,” starring Woody Allen and Penelope Cruz. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

E-book Help: 3 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will host its weekly class instructing adults in the use of e-books. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Dancing Through Books: 4 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library hosts a special program for children 5 through 8. The Dance Gallery will give a special class to explore the art of reading and creating dances. 71 Columbus Ave.

Movie Night: 7 p.m. There will be a children’s movie night at Waverly Elementary School. 45 Hall Ave., Eastchester.

Shabbat service and gospel music: 7:45 p.m. Visit the Westchester Reform Temple for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Shabbat Service and Gospel Music with featured guest speaker Bishop W. Darin Moore. 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

“The Masters”: Concordia Conservatory of Music and Art presents a concert featuring three bands in the Schoenfeld Campus Center. $5. 171 White Plains Road, Bronxville.

Music at the Park: 9:30 p.m. Park 143 Bistro will showcase guest artist John James playing rock and soul. Guests will receive a free Park Bellini. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.

Saturday, Jan. 19

Babies and Bagels: 9:15 a.m. This informal, drop-in playgroup is for babies and toddlers with their moms, dads, caregivers and grandparents. All are welcome. No fee. Westchester Reform Temple, 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale.

Children’s Art Class: 9:45 a.m. Children ages 3 to 5 can gain confidence in self-expression through painting, sculpting, drawing, collage, dramatic play and more at Gymboree. 450 Central Park Ave., Scarsdale

Guitar Show: 10:30 a.m. Visit the Eastchester Public Library for a 30-minute interactive music session with Robert the Guitar Guy. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Sunday, Jan. 20

Film discussion:  2 p.m. Richard Knox will examine the careers of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers using a variety of video clips. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Anniversary celebration: 4 p.m. Park 143 Bistro in Bronxville will celebrate its one-year anniversary with champagne and hors d’oeuvres. 143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.
