What's Happening Around Eastchester This Weekend

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – There will be plenty to do around Eastchester this weekend. The Bronxville Public Library is hosting several events for families, and the 36th annual Tuckahoe Road Race is on Sunday. See our Events Page for a complete list of local and county events.

Friday, Sept. 7

Music in the Square: 12 p.m. There will be live music in the center of Getty Square for shoppers at the Friday Downtown Sidewalk Sale. 13 S. Broadway, Yonkers.

Film series: 1 p.m. The Eastchester Public Library will continue its film series by screening “Out of Africa.” 11 Oakridge Pl., Eastchester. 

Family film: 3:30 to 5 p.m. The Bronxville Public Library will screen “The Lorax,” based on the popular Dr. Seuss book. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Italian film: 7 p.m. Anton Evangelista, a New York City filmmaker, will screen one of his movies at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center. A question-and-answer session will follow the film. Must pre-register. $10 for members; $20 for non-members. 24 Depot Sq., Tuckahoe.

 

Saturday, Sept. 8

Tuckahoe Farmers Market: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The farmers market will once again return to the parking lot at the Metro-North Station across from the Generoso Pope Foundation. 1 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Jigsaw Puzzle Club: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Bronxville Public Library invites all parents and kids to help the club finish its jigsaw puzzles. Snacks will be served. Various puzzles for all ages. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Writing Institute Open House: 1 p.m. The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College is hosting an open house. Those present will hear about fall courses, which will be followed by free workshops and readings from the faculty. 45 Wrexham Road, Bronxville.

 

Sunday, Sept. 9

Tuckahoe Road Race: 9 a.m. Hudson Valley Bank is sponsoring the 36th annual local race. Check-in and registration will take place at 7:30 a.m. at the Tuckahoe Community Center. There will be many awards, raffles and prizes for participants. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Sunday worship service: 10 a.m. Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church will host a Holy Eucharist followed by a coffee hour. This Sunday is Children’s Sunday. 98 Stewart Ave., Eastchester.

Sunday story time: 2 p.m. Join Miss Jen at the Bronxville Public Library for a fun selection of themed stories for ages 3 and up. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Art exhibit: 2 p.m. Artist John Moran is inviting the public to the opening reception for his exhibit at the Bronxville Women’s Club. The exhibit will be available for viewing through September 27. 135 Midland Ave., Bronxville. 

Science Barge: 2 p.m. The last Blue Crab Blitz of the season will take place on the Science Barge. Children will catch the crabs and record data. 99 Dock St., Yonkers.
