Representatives of the dog-grooming business said the fund-raiser helps the Relay for Life of Yonkers in support of the American Cancer Society. The “Grooming for a Cure” event consisted of haircuts, baths, raffles, and a plant sale for Mother’s Day. All money raised, including the days tips, are being donated, according to a press release.

“We started “Grooming for a Cure” four years ago, and are excited to bring the event to Groom Spot this year,” said Julie Zwisdak, co-owner of the dog grooming salon. “We started our team 'The Pink Ladies' when our aunt (who is now a survivor) was diagnosed with breast cancer. We then lost our grandfather to lung cancer the following year and have continued to fund-raise each year.”

In total, the salon groomed eleven dogs at the event.

“We chose a Saturday because that is our busiest day,” said co-owner Larry Van Nostrand. “We greatly appreciate everyone’s generosity and look forward to hosting the event again next year.”

The Pink Ladies are holding another event, "Moving for a Cure" on Sunday, May 18. at the business at 172 White Plains Road.
