Kickoff Dinner Takes Strides Against Breast Cancer in Westchester County

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. ? It is nothing short of a journey to vanquish breast cancer, but you can make strides against it by taking just a few small steps. First, to a fundraising dinner at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, at Angelina’s Ristorante, 97 Lake Ave., in Tuckahoe.

Then, at the 2012 Making Strides Against Cancer Walk Westchester County on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 9 a.m. at Manhattanville College in Purchase.

The dinner will be hosted by Eastchester’s New Image Laser and Med Spa . A $25 per-person donation will not only buy you dinner and a T-shirt, but also assure your place on New Image’s “Making Strides” team for the October road race.

“I’ve been participating in the walk for 17 of the 20 years it’s been in existence,” said New Image Laser and Med Spa’s CEO Marina Bonci. “It gets bigger and better every year, and our team – Artuso’s Angels – has raised thousands and thousands of dollars to support cancer research.”

Marie Mena-Doescher, a childhood friend of Bonci's and a cancer survivor, will be a guest speaker.

Since 1993, some 8 million cancer charity walkers across the country have raised more than $460 million through Making Strides events to help fight breast cancer. Last year alone, more than $60 million was raised nationwide to benefit the American Cancer Society.
