WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Back-to-school season is upon us and, as always, there are new trends to look for this fall in Westchester.

Decades-old styles are making comebacks, from '80s blazers and denim jackets to '90s combat boots and cropped shirts. Over-sized camouflage jackets and small, studded bags are also big this year, and they're all for matching with the back-to-school essential: denim.

This year's denim looks are as varied as the brands that are making the fall must-have lists. Jeans with prints are popular, said Lindsey Isanberg, owner of Infinity boutique in Scarsdale, including floral and animal prints.

Isanberg said that Infinity customers headed back to school are coming in looking for tops with elbow patches and patterns, especially skulls. "They were huge," Isanberg said about skull patterns and adornments. "Now, they’re huge again."

Pastel-colored denim is another favorite. Back-to-school trends for girls are a combination of both grunge-y and girly. Lace and sequins are being paired with over-sized jackets and military-inspired boots.

For boys, back-to-school means a clean-cut style. Short-sleeved button-down shirts can be paired with skinny jeans and sneakers. Slim graphic tees, narrow jackets and patterned sweatshirts are also big.

Accessories are also important for building a back-to-school look. For girls, chunky rings, manicure art and ankle boots are in season, while boys might go for graphic-printed baseball caps, colorful socks and classic shoes, like bucks, oxfords or boat shoes.
