This plummy punch, a blend of various wines and fruits, not only refreshes, but, because it's often served in a pitcher, has the kind of cache other cocktails don't. In other words: it's all about sharing. What follows are some options for indulging in this crowd-pleasing concoction. Feel free to tell us more of your favorites on our Facebook pages.

Bartaco, Port Chester: Ok, so there's no sangria here per say but... they do have a a cocktail called the"Well Oiled Style" that's essentially a ""make your own" sangria. It's a pitcher of any of the restaurant's Agua Frescas or iced teas, plus alcohol on the side, and slices of citrus fruit, and it's meant to be shared. You can mix to your liking. Cheers to Summer: 1 Willett Ave, (914) 937-8226.

Bridge View Tavern, Sleepy Hollow: A lot of love goes into the red sangria here, served by the glass only. (They also have white peach sangria.) The red is an old-family recipe filled with juicy bits of pears, apples, and oranges. Cheers to Summer: 226 Beekman Ave, (914) 332-0078.

Cafe of Love, Mount Kisco: A splash of lemon soda (in the red) or ginger ale (in the whit) gives each sangria here a nice effervescence, ideal for a hot day. The red features wine-soaked oranges, apples and plums along with Rioja wine, apple liqueur, raspberry liqueur, apricot brandy and cranberry and pomegranate juices while the white features a light peachy tang thanks to the Verdejo wine, peach liqueur, Cointreau, apricot brandy, orange juice, sliced lemons, limes, peaches and strawberries. Cheers to Summer: 38 E Main St., (914) 242-1002

Durian, Larchmont: Yes, we know it's a Thai restaurant but this place is awash in seasonal cocktails including ones made with lotus flower and lavender. Their blue pea sangria is full of lemon lime flavors, white wine and tons of fresh berries. Cheers to Summer: 147 Chatsworth Ave., Larchmont, (914) 833-1900.

Don Coqui, White Plains: The fruit-filled classic -- in red and white -- exudes a sense of fun with its bracing balance of brandy, Schnapps, wine, soda and fruit juice. Cheers to Summer: 107 Mamaroneck Ave., (914) 576-7676.

MP Taverna, Irvington: Expect a twist on the traditional sangria. The beverage here includes Metaza, a brandy-like Greek spirit infused with rose petals, giving both the red a white a savory edge. Cheers to Summer: 1 Bridge St., (914) 231-7854.

Moderne Barn, Armonk:  A garnish of mint and a glass of crisp white wine peach sangria make for a perfect summer thirst-quencher. The drink is made with vodka, grated ginger, simple syrup, Chablis wine and peaches. Cheers to Summer: 430 Bedford Rd., (914) 730-0001.

NoMa Social, New Rochelle:  Five tapas and a pitcher of sangria (for $60) make for the perfect after-work reprieve. Add to that a loungey decor and generous sized bar, and you're set for the night. Sangria comes in red and white varieties chock full of oranges and heaping portions of apples. The restaurant sells so much of it that it is now available on tap. Cheers to Summer: 1 Radisson Plaza, (914) 576-4141.

105-Ten Bar & Grill, Briarcliff Manor: Red, white and rose sangria are on the menu at this post-industrial looking tavern with its Brooklyn-meets-Westchester vibe. Cheers to Summer: 127 Woodside Ave., (914) 502-3442.

Pier Restaurant & Tiki Bar, Rye: Sure you can have traditional red and white sangria, but why not opt for Tiki Blue? You'll feel like you've been transported to a Caribbean island with the fun pitcher presentation complete with an assortment of tall blue, red, orange, and purple straws and pastel-colored gummy fish on the rim. Cheers to Summer: 1 Playland Pkwy, (914) 967-1020.

Sofrito, White Plains: There's a lively, festive atmopshere to this Puerto Rican eatery where white and red sangrias seem to be on almost every table. Cheers to Summer: 175 Main St., (914) 428-5500.

Sonora, Port Chester: Sangria lovers: say hello to your nirvana. Aside from the classic red or white, this Latin American charmer also offers watermelon, blood orange, pineapple mint and white mango. Cheers to Summer: 179 Rectory St. (914) 933-0200.

Villaggio’s, Hartsdale: Villaggio's sangria is made weekly in a five-gallon glass jar. The restaurant's staff, in fact, personally taste-tested different recipes and wound up putting together a homemade recipe that includes fresh mango puree, a splash of Prosecco, tons of peaches, apples and oranges, and a few other "secret" ingredients. Cheers to Summer: 389 N. Central Ave., (914) 949-3427.
