The second graders at the school were busy architects and landscapers, using their creativity to craft each candy house.

The annual tradition gives students a chance to become little artists, meticulously decorating every inch of their candy house.

The students got a hands-on math lesson as they planned, measured and used patterning to put the pieces of their masterpieces together.

Students took the finished products home to use as holiday centerpieces.

“They were extremely proud of their creations and eager to show off their work,” said teacher Mrs. Hillier, who added the children love the project and it really holds their attention. “Besides having fun, they learn lots of skills such as counting, patterning, and fine-motor planning.”

The end result is a happy child and a beautiful centerpiece for Christmas celebrations, she said.
