The "Laboratory School" at Virginia Marx Children’s Center operates as a demonstration site for college students in the Early Childhood, Human Services and Dietetic Technology curriculum. Students take part in internships under the supervision of the lead instructor as they observe potential future teachers at work. Having students involved with the children's curriculum is beneficial for teachers as they are constantly learning and reviewing practices and ideas in the education field.
Virginia Marx Children's Center also offers several enrichment programs for toddlers, including music courses and science and nature study. These programs allow toddlers to discover the world around them in a safe classroom environment.
The Virginia Marx Children's Center also has observation rooms which allow parents to witness how their children are learning and interacting with the teachers and programs. Both the students at Westchester Community College and the teachers at Virginia Marx Children's Center have learned from the interaction with the toddlers, as they discover new ways to enrich children's lives.
The Virginia Marx Children's Center is located on Westchester Community College’s Valhalla campus and offers programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, 5 days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, click here.
