EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – A U.S. Army sergeant recently visited fifth-graders at Eastchester’s Anne Hutchinson School, according to a press release.
First Sgt. William Howard, who has served in the Army for 24 years, visited Deanna Santoro’s fifth-grade class Thursday, May 21.
Howard is the father of Christopher, a student at Anne Hutchinson School.
When students asked him how much Howard liked being in the Army, on a scale of 1-10, the sergeant replied, “Twenty-five,” according to a press release.
He is stationed at Fort Eustis in Newport News, Va. and supervises 370 men and women.
Howard has traveled throughout the world, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea and Somalia.
The sergeant reminded students to always be ready for whatever comes their way, do the seemingly small tasks that will set them apart from others and to work hard in school.
