Seven Bronxville High School students have been selected for the Area All-State music ensembles by the Westchester County School Music Association and will be featured in the concert on Thursday.
The senior class will be well represented at the concert. John George Brakatselos, bass, and Alekzandra Thoms, soprano, will sing with the Mixed Chorus, while fellow seniors Noor Banihashem Ahmad and Caroline Schetlick, alto, were chosen for the Women’s Chorus.
Schetlick has been busy, with a recent performance with the 2015 Area All-National Mixed Chorus at an event in Nashville, Tennessee.
Junior Michael Landy will serve as principal oboist of the Area All-State Band. Landy has also been named to the 2015 New York All-State Symphonic Band. Sophomore string bassist Eva Cagliostro and junior violinist Remi Laurence will perform with the Area All-State String Orchestra.
The seven Bronxville performers were chosen based on auditions that were held last spring at the New York State School Music Association Solo Evaluation Festival. The concert is open to eligible Westchester County sophomores, juniors and seniors.
