"Whether they have fur, feathers, fins or scales, animals come in many different forms, just like their human counterparts," organizers noted. "Long, tall, big or small, we are all important to the world that surrounds us."
Students in the Animal Embassy program learned the importance of appreciating similarities and celebrating differences, as they met a diverse group of live Animal Ambassadors. Campers got to ask questions, make observations and touch some of the animals.
"The skin feels smooth," one camper commented, after touching Leche the milk snake. "I like the bright yellow color," stated another.
"That chinchilla is so soft," one child commented.
Campers also met Gigantor the gecko. "He doesn't seem that big," stated a camper. They were surprised to learn he is actually much larger than other geckos.
"They explored the significance of having respect for all living things, while learning the importance of kindness and tolerance during this unforgettable week," organizers said.
