EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- We asked for stories on how you met your Valentine and got this one from Eastchester resident Mark Rodriguez:
"I’m from Los Angeles and my wife is from Brazil. We met while I was on vacation there during the 2008/09 New Year celebration. It was a samba lounge that had no rooftop. We spoke for hours that night, under the Rio moon. It was incredible. All the clichés came true: love at first sight, across a crowded room, when I least expected it…take your pick!
"In LA, we married in 2010. Moved to Manhattan in 2011. The following year brought us a Manhattan earthquake, Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, a Giants Super Bowl victory, our first baby (Diego), my Kings first-ever Stanley Cup (sorry, Devils fans), and our current home in Bronxville Manor. All the while we adjusted to a new coast, blizzards, and distance from family.
"I now get a kick out of hanging out with her while the kids (Julio arrived last year) are asleep, from our deck and/or window, staring up at the same moon that watched over us those years ago.
"Never in a million years did I ever think I’d end up married and living in a beautiful place like Eastchester. It is here that I’m living the best years of my life."
