EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Eastchester resident Briana Balsamo recently received the first annual Pepe Auto Group scholarship.
“I am so grateful to have been awarded with the first annual Pepe Auto Group scholarship," said Balsamo. "When I found out I won, I was ecstatic and honored that Mr. Pepe and the rest of the committee felt I was qualified to receive this award. Winning this scholarship has given me motivation to continue to work hard so I can achieve my goals and succeed. This money will be put toward my tuition at Northeastern University.”
Balsamo is pursuing a pharmaceutical degree. She has field experience working at White Plains Hospital as a pharmacy assistant and at CVS as a pharmacy technician.
The $5,000 scholarship was awarded based on her academic achievements and extracurricular activities. An advisory committee consisting of Chief Operating Officer Joseph Pepe and three prominent Westchester professionals comprised the committee.
“The Pepe Auto Group highly values our employees, we would not be who we are today without them and all their hard work," said Pepe. "We are happy to have the opportunity to award these hardworking employees and their families by offering this yearly scholarship to one of our employees outstanding children.”
Candidates were required to be a child of a Pepe Auto Group employee, demonstrate success in academics and extracurriculars and submit an essay along with two letters of recommendation.
“Briana winning this scholarship means so much to us," said her father, Remo Balsamo. "My wife and I know how hard she worked through high school and continues to work during college. It is such an honor that her accomplishments were recognized from Pepe Auto Group and we are so grateful and proud.”
