EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – What happens when you combine chocolate fudge ice cream, Oreo cookies, cookie dough chunks and hold it all together with a whipped cream-flavored ribbon?

You get a pretty delicious flavor of ice cream, according to Eastchester resident Liz DeCecco, and Baskin-Robbins, which recently stocked its shelves with her award-winning flavor: Oreo Cookie Dough Obsession.

DeCecco was the third winner of Baskin-Robbins’ annual “Create Baskin’s Next Favorite Flavor Contest,” which allows patrons to design and develop their own flavor of ice cream virtually.

While perfecting her recipe, DeCecco simply took flavors that she enjoys and put them all together in one package.

“I love anything with a combination of mint, fudge, Oreos and cookie dough or brownie bits, and Oreo Cookie Dough Obsession combines many of those items,” DeCecco said. “The chocolate fudge ice cream adds richness and the cookie pieces really stand out for me. The final product exceeded my expectations of what I thought it would taste like.”

Oreo Cookie Dough Obsession is now available in Baskin-Robbins locations across the country in pre-packaged quarts. In May, DeCecco was flown out to Burbank, Calif. to create the first batch of her ice cream flavor.

“I’m excited to share my creation with friends and family, as well as ice cream lovers around the United States,” she added. “The picture on the packaging was taken during my trip to the training center in Burbank. Friends from all over the country have been sending me pictures of their purchased quart – it’s like seeing the travelling gnome!”

DeCecco has entered the contest each year, and through the input of friends and family, finally found the winning combination on her third attempt. She added that during the holiday season, she is hopeful of putting a smile on ice cream lovers’ faces that are enjoying her creation.

“Even when you’re having a bad day, ice cream can make things better with every lick or spoonful. That’s where the inspiration for my flavor came from,” she said. “I wanted to create a flavor with a positive meaning to brighten peoples’ days. What better way to do that than with ice cream, cookies and cookie dough pieces?”
