Edward 'Ned' Hayes, 89, Longtime Tuckahoe Resident

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Edward "Ned" Hayes, a longtime resident of Tuckahoe, died May 23. He was 89.

He was born April 25, 1923. Hayes retired as vice president of operations at Amscan after 30 years. Along with his wife, Mary, Hayes was among the founding members of the Eastchester Irish American Club. They were parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe for more than 50 years.

He is survived by a son, John (Mary) Hayes; two daughters, Mary Clare (Al) McLaughlin and Noreen (Artie) Vogel; a brother, Mylie Hayes; a sister, Bernadette Mannion; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Hayes was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary C. Hayes. He was also predeceased by five sisters, Peg, Lilah, Marie, Kathleen and Bertie.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Holy Mount Cemetery.
