Irish Eyes Smile At Eastchester St. Patrick's Day Parade

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Eastchester held its 11th annual St. Patrick's Day parade, which celebrated Irish heritage and culture, along a green-striped Route 22, from ICS to Lake Isle.

The Eastchester Marching Band was among the 10 pipe bands, five Irish dancing troupes, four brass marching bands, three Irish music bands and numerous other groups, including the Police and Fire Departments, as well as veterans and active military at last weekend's parade.

Eastchester School District marchers included superintendent of schools Walter Moran and his wife Kath, high school principal Jeff Capuano, EHSband leader and teacher Don Olsen and Eastchester Board of Education members Willa Brody, Dave Carforo, Mary Messner Martin and Rob Summer.

The 2015 Grand Marshal was Joseph B. Houlihan and the parade honorees were Stephen and Kathleen Huvane.

The parade is organized by the The Eastchester Irish American Social Club, a nonprofit organization founded in 1966 consisting of members from Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Bronxville and Crestwood.
