This event was part of Westchester’s annual Turkey Campaign run by the Food Bank for Westchester, which provides 5,000 turkeys each Thanksgiving holiday.
Thirteen volunteers from the JLB distributed turkeys and desserts to the families. According to Wilma Joseph, who administers the Food Bank for Westchester’s Kraft Mobile Food Pantry Progam at Beulah Church, families started lining up for the distribution around 1 a.m.
“The JLB’s core cause for several years now has been focused on alleviating hunger and promoting proper nutrition in southern Westchester. Our impact and commitment gets stronger each year with a big part of our success due to our amazing relationship and partnership with the Food Bank for Westchester. Together we continue to tackle issues of hunger and nutrition in our community,” said JLB President Erica Sevilla. "The Junior League of Bronxville was happy to be a part of making the Thanksgiving holiday brighter for some Mount Vernon families."
