EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Just in time for the official start of summer, things are going to get easier for Eastchester residents that are contemplating traveling abroad.

The Westchester County Clerk’s Office plans to take their show on the road, making processing passports simpler.

The county’s mobile passport office will be stationed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Depot Square in Tuckahoe. It will give travelers the chance to quickly apply for a passport, including photo.

Each year, members of the clerk’s outreach staff travel around the country, accepting passport applications from interested parties. Last year, more than 500 passport applications were submitted at the mobile office.

Those filling out an application at the mobile passport office are required to bring proof of citizenship, which is limited to a previous passport or a certified birth certificate, either the original or a copy. The clerk’s office also will require a valid driver’s license or government-issued identification and a recent passport photo.

For those that don’t have a recent photo, one can be taken for a $10 fee.

An adult’s passport will cost $110, while a child’s passport is reduced to $80. Only a money order, check or credit card will be accepted, no cash. Expedited delivery, within three weeks, will cost $60 extra. Otherwise, delivery of your passport will take several weeks longer.

For those who cannot make it to the mobile passport office that day, applications also can be submitted in person at the Westchester County Clerk's Office in White Plains at 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, excluding legal holidays.
