Russo, Former Eastchester Secretary, Dies at 94

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Gladys Marie Russo of Eastchester died March 28 at Calvary Hospital after an extended illness. She was 94.

She was born Aug. 9, 1917 to Fahima (Sarkis) and Adeeb Haddad. Raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Russo attended parochial schools. She worked as a secretary for General Motors and Combustion Engineering.

In June of 1957, she married Arthur Russo and they had one daughter, Lisa. The family moved from Mount Vernon to Eastchester in 1964, where Russo pursued many activities and cultivated even more friendships. She enjoyed life with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters until a few weeks before her death.

Russo is survived by her daughter Lisa of Eastchester and two granddaughters.

The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Assumption Church in Tuckahoe. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens N.Y. Funeral arrangements are under Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester.
