More than 40 Eastchester students are set to make their television debut this week after being featured on an upcoming TV special for children, “Make a Difference with Loukoumi,” based on the book series from local author Nick Katsoris.

“Make a Difference with Loukoumi” will air nationally on Fox affiliates nationwide at noon Saturday, Oct. 18, but there will be a special screening for locals interested in getting a sneak peek at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Eastchester High School auditorium.

The television special, which is hosted by Cat Cora, features cameos from Gillies Marini, Morgan Freeman, Al Roker and other celebrities. It’s designed to educate children about how to positively affect the lives of those around them. Tickets can be purchased here, with proceeds going to the Loukoumi Foundation, which benefits children’s charities.

In all, more than 40 Eastchester students – including Sophia Lotto, who won a contest for illustrating her “dream day” – joined those celebrities in the special.

Loukoumi, who teaches lessons about eliminating bullying, comes as Eastchester begins to observe National Bullying Prevention Awareness month. Author Nick Katsoris said he hopes his much-beloved character can help brighten the lives of others.

"Loukoumi is a fluffy lamb that just wants to make the world a better place and 'The Make A Difference with Loukoumi' TV special is all about teaching children how to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others. I am so grateful to the Anne Hutchinson School, the town of Eastchester and the 40 Eastchester students that all came together to help us make a difference!"
