Tuckahoe HS Senior Liam Davis Performs With All-State Wind Ensemble

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- Liam Davis, a senior at Tuckahoe High School, performed in the New York State School Music Association's (NYSSMA) All-State Wind Ensemble on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the association's statewide conference held in Rochester, N.Y.

Davis was selected to perform on the timpani with this highly competitive group of more than 200 high school musicians based on his superior NYSSMA solo results this past spring.

According to the NYSSMA website, “Selection to area All-State is very competitive. For selection to conference All-State, students compete not only with other students at their audition site but with students from across the state. More than 7,000 students compete for the 890 positions in the eight All-State ensembles. Even a perfect score of 100 does not guarantee selection to All-State on many instruments or voices."

The conference was attended by students, teachers, professors, administrators, associated school personnel and parents from school music programs across New York State.

Davis has previously been selected to perform with the NYSSMA Area All-State Concert Band in 2013, and Lower Westchester concert bands in every year he has attended Tuckahoe Middle and High School.
