TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Tina DeRoma, a resident of Tuckahoe’s The Fountains at RiverVue, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was born May 1, 1915.
Mayor Steve Ecklond and other local residents honored DeRoma at a birthday party, according to a press release from The Fountains at RiverVue.
DeRoma, a native of Italy, survived World War II and bombings in Bologna.
She immigrated to New York in 1955, and met and married her first husband, Mario.
DeRoma became a widow at age 56 and eventually married a man named Salvatore.
After they traveled the world and spent over 20 years in Florida, DeRoma returned to New York to be closer to her daughter and three grandchildren.
