White Plains' Peter Becerra, 52, Investigator

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Peter Becerra, a career law enforcement officer most recently assigned as a senior investigator for Homeland Security and the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force, passed away at age 52 Friday surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in White Plains in January 1960 to Isabel (Calero) and the late Frank L. Becerra, a longtime noted graphic artist with the Gannett newspapers.

Becerra graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains and served in the U.S. Coast Guard after college. He met his wife Tracey (McGuin) while stationed in Virginia. Becerra went to work for the Loudoun County Sheriff Office (Virginia) attaining the rank of Sergeant. In 1995, he and his family moved to White Plains, where he worked for the Westchester County District Attorney's Office as a criminal investigator for 17 years.

Becerra was a Little League coach, member of the Hope Engine WPVFD, active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and Federal Order of Police Lodge 188, the Westchester County Detectives Association and the Westchester County D.A.

Becerra is survived by his wife, Tracey; his children, Stephani, Matthew, Lauren, Kyle and Taryn; and his mother, Isabel. He also is survived by his siblings, Maria Gallagher, (Denis) Frank, (Liz) Joseph, Tony (Kristin) and Billy; his mother-in-law, Dorothy McGuin; sister-in-laws, Vicky, Kim, Tuesdee and Stephanie; brothers-in-law Ray, George, Dan and Bill; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Mcmahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
