EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Contrary to what many human residents of Scarsdale and Eastchester might think, some birds seem delighted that the local Borders bookstore shut its doors. With fewer people around, they found enough peace to build a nest on the now forever unlit sign, more precisely inside the top hole of the letter "B."
Borders Group, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Feb. 16, closing more than 200 stores, including the one at Vernon Hills Shopping Center on White Plains Road.
The company has stated that it plans to announce a bidder soon, but its future is still uncertain.
