The Drexel senior’s show saw its stage debut this weekend, as the two-man musical spoof “Gutenberg! The Musical!” took center stage in the university’s new Black Box Theater.

Romeo and Dan Toll – another senior in the entertainment and arts management program – produced the show as their capstone project to demonstrate the culmination of their undergraduate studies. For more than a year, the pair has performed each of the various roles required of a theater company to get their production off the ground.

Toll acted as the play’s director, while Romeo served as the production manager. Both will graduate from Drexel University on June 15.

The duo’s production marks the first time a music and fully student-produced show have been performed at the Black Box Theater. It stars Chris Feindler and Vince Giannone, two students at Drexel.

“Gutenberg! The Musical” centers around two authors who pen a musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. In need of support, they perform a backers’ audition for producers without actors, sets or costumes.
