EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan is set to visit Tuckahoe's Immaculate Conception School on Monday to bless the new gym.
The blessing and opening of the gymnasium will follow a Mass of thanksgiving at 10 a.m. The Rev. Eric P. Raaser, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church; school principal Maureen J. Harten and the faculty and students will join Dolan, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, for the celebration, according to a news release from the school.
"Our school's commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in the design of the gymnasium and we are particularly proud of this," Harten said in the release. "As the construction of the Gym progressed this past year our students could hardly contain their enthusiasm to play in this beautiful facility. They will enjoy countless hours of teamwork, fitness, learning, and just plain fun for many years to come."
The ceremony to bless the new structure will take place at 11 a.m., according to the release. Dolan and local representatives "will address the audience and recognize the valuable contributions of all involved in creating the new gymnasium that will serve the school and local community," according to the release.
